Interpreting graphs
What does a FLAT line on a graph mean?
What should you look at FIRST on a new graph?
At 10 minutes the value was 1 and at 20 minutes it was 3. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
A steeper line means a faster rate of change.
A graph rises steeply, then levels off, then falls. Put the descriptions in order.
Write the order (left to right along the graph) in the boxes:
A car travels at a steady 6 km per hour. How far does it go in 4 hours?
A car travels at a steady 8 km per hour. How far does it go in 4 hours?
At 10 minutes the value was 2 and at 20 minutes it was 8. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
A car travels at a steady 5 km per hour. How far does it go in 8 hours?
A car travels at a steady 6 km per hour. How far does it go in 7 hours?
At 10 minutes the value was 6 and at 20 minutes it was 8. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
At 10 minutes the value was 4 and at 20 minutes it was 12. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
At 10 minutes the value was 3 and at 20 minutes it was 10. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
A car travels at a steady 9 km per hour. How far does it go in 8 hours?
A car travels at a steady 2 km per hour. How far does it go in 8 hours?
At 10 minutes the value was 6 and at 20 minutes it was 14. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
At 10 minutes the value was 1 and at 20 minutes it was 8. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
A car travels at a steady 4 km per hour. How far does it go in 2 hours?
At 10 minutes the value was 2 and at 20 minutes it was 6. Estimate the value at 15 minutes.
A car travels at a steady 2 km per hour. How far does it go in 6 hours?
